No. Unlike third-party software tweaks that can reset back to Japanese Kanji if the battery is disconnected or pressing the wrong button on the menu, our lab conversion is a permanent hardware-level modification. It will stay in English permanently – guaranteed.
It is compatible with all 3-door JB74 and JB64 models from 2018 onwards. However, please note that it is not compatible with the 5-door Jimny Nomade variant. The 5-door cluster incorporates adaptive cruise control features (identified by SRS controls on the right-hand display screen), which use a different hardware setup.
When we process your cluster, we take your current odometer reading in kilometers and accurately convert it into miles. Moving forward from the moment it is reinstalled, your speedometer will tick up naturally in miles.
We offer both! You can post your unit to us using our step-by-step video guide to remove it yourself (you’ll be without the speedo for roughly 2–3 working days once received). Alternatively, you can drive to our workshop in Halifax, West Yorkshire, where we will remove, convert, and reinstall the unit for you with free fitting.
Absolutely. Many of our customers travel long distances to drop off their Jimny with us. Our workshop is just a 5-minute walk from the local train station, so you can easily head home or explore the area while we work. Many clients combine their language conversion with underbody Dinitrol rustproofing, suspension lifts, soundproofing, leather re-trims, or roof rack installations.
If you have anything major, like the underbody treatmet, we will need the car for a week. Other services such as fitting the head unit can be done in the day. There are a host of things to do in the local area such as to visit Shibden Hall, the home of Anne Lister from “Gentleman Jack” fame, and the iconic Piece Hall (Grade 1 architectural and cultural phenomenon), both of which attract visitors from all over the world. We can advise you of an itinerary.
If your vehicle has previously had an inline chip or third-party conversion device fitted behind the dashboard to convert speed readings, it must be removed or disabled prior to or during our conversion process so it doesn’t conflict with our lab work.
Yes, every single feature on your vehicle remains 100% active and functional. Please note that after the conversion, a couple of specific visual icons on the instrument cluster face—such as the Auto Start/Stop and parking sensor indicator icons—will no longer illuminate on the dash face, but the actual systems in the car will continue to work perfectly.
The total conversion cost is £380. Overall lab turnaround time is approximately 2–3 weeks.
By post there is a £20 surcharge for packaging and special delivery insured to £750 – you will also have the cost of you packaging and sending the cluster to us, taking the total to £400.
